HANOVER Caroline Bureau, the valedictorian of the Hanover High School Class of 2021, said she spent a lot of time wishing. And by wishing, she was missing.

Speaking at Friday night's graduation ceremony, Bureau said that by focusing on things to come, she was missing out on a lot of other things happening right in front of her.

"Appreciate those little, big moments.Today is a good day to take those blinders off," she said.

Salutatorian Emma Richards saidmembers of the class experienced so many memories together that will last a lifetime in a community that has always celebrated them.

"Remember Hanover as a community that always believed in you and supported you," Richards said. "Always carry a bit of Hanover with you."

Class President Fiona Hutchison said the class learned to take the good with the bad as they coped with all the changes the coronavirus pandemic forced on their senior year.

"No one can compare to us," Hutchinson said. "We are historic."

Many of the 207graduatesdecorated their caps with the names and logos of the colleges they will attend in the fall.
