KOCHI: BJP national president Amit Shahs visit to the state on June 2 will be the beginning of the end of communism in Kerala, BJP national secretary H Raja said on Wednesday.

The BJP is gaining ground in Kerala and the country. On the other hand, the CPM lost its foothold in Tripura and West Bengal - its main base. Kerala is its lone base in the country now, Raja said while briefing mediapersons on Shahs three-day visit to the state.

To retain its hold in the state, the CPM is annihilating its political and ideological opponents, Raja said. He said several known persons of Kerala will join the BJP in the coming days. Prominent persons in the country have already joined the BJP. Kerala will be no exception. A meeting of VIPs will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday and they will join us on the day. The new members list will be released in a couple of days, he said.

He also asked the CPM to do away with the practice of using violence, threats and murder to eliminate its opponents.The CPM should reform itself. It should learn to debate and face its opponents ideologically, he said.He said Shahs visit will enhance public support for the party.
