Citizen police academy connects cops, community

Crime scene investigation, firearms, tasers, and patrol ride-alongs thats just some of the content that will be taught at the Ridgefield Police Departments Citizen Police Academy.

The academy launches Tuesday, March 31, and will meet every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. for nine weeks.

Connecting the community and the police, the Citizen Police Academy will educate participants about various aspects of police work, said police Capt. Jeff Kreitz in a press release. Participants will gain insight into how their police department works and provides services to the community.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time an application is submitted.

Applicants should live or work in Ridgefield, Capt. Kreitz added.

It is the departments first citizen police academy since 2005.
