Crime investigation Sunday morning at Lehigh Hess store

LEHIGH ACRES, FL -

A crime scene investigation took place at the Hess gas station at the corner of Lee Boulevard and Waldo Avenues Sunday morning.

Lee County Sheriff's Office released information Sunday afternoon to say it involved a deputy involved shooting.

The incident started before 3:00 a.m. when a Lee County Deputy was conducting an investigation in the area of 5551 Lee Boulevard. It is in the area of the Hess gas station and store.

An unidentified deputy came into contact with a man named William Timothy Brooks of Lehigh Acres.

The sheriff's office says Brooks tried to take off in a vehicle to get away from the deputy. Another deputy responding to the call was rammed by the suspect's vehicle as the deputy entered the parking lot. They say Brooks put the vehicle in reverse and drove toward the first deputy.

Shots were fired, according to the sheriff's office but no one was injured by gun fire. Brooks was arrested after a second collision.

Employees were prevented from entering or leaving the business. The staff we spoke to did not hear or see anything.

Crime scene detectives remained on site through late Sunday morning.

Other than the deputy's vehicle, two vehicles appeared to have sustained damage according to our crews at the scene.
