'CSI's' William Petersen makes his TV return on 'Manhattan' Season 2

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's" William Petersen is returning to TV as a series regular on Season 2 of WGN America's "Manhattan."

The Golden-Globe nominated actor hasn't appeared on TV since the end of his 10-year run as Dr. Gilbert 'Gil' Grissom on "CSI." He will play the religious and patriotic Colonel Emmett Darrow, a military officer at Los Alamos.

Darrow, who feels called by God, will set out to "usher in the atomic future" and "spread American values across the globe."

"Manhattan" stars John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams, Daniel Stern, Ashley Zukerman and Rachel Brosnahan. The series follows a group of Los Alamos scientists and their families in the 1940s as they figure out how to live and survive in a world of secrets and lies.

Season 2 of "Manhattan" is set to premiere in 2015.
