Fire claims the life of one, injures another in Deep Run fire – Kinston Free Press

A Deep Run structural fire left one dead and another injured Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., the Deep Run Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1719 Vernie Heath Road in Deep Run. Lenoir County EMS, Pink Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Southwood Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene, according tothe Lenoir County Sheriffs Office.

The person injured was transported by Lenoir County EMS to a hospital. Names have not been released.

The Lenoir County Emergency Services Fire Marshal, along with the Lenoir County Sheriffs Office Crime Scene Investigation unit and the Office of State Fire Marshal are conducting the investigation of the fire.

At this time, nothing appears to be criminal in nature.

The Lenoir County Fire Marshal and Lenoir County Emergency Services will follow up with the investigation.

Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram offers his sincere condolences to the family of the victim for their loss from this tragedy.
