A Kelowna, B.C.-based medical cannabis producer with facilities in Canada and Colombia will be adding some star power to its company in 2020.

Oscar-nominated actor Laurence Fishburne, best known for his roles in films like the John Wick series, Whats Love Got to Do with It, The Matrix and Kings of New York, as well as his television roles in shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, will include two short documentary segments featuring Allied Corp. and its charitable organization on his show, Behind the Scenes with Laurence Fishburne.

Being able to distribute the Allied message to the Behind the Scenes national network will only scale the number of people who we are able to reach, and who might need this educational content, Allied CEO Calum Hughes said in a news release. We are excited to continue to inspire those suffering that there is help and a way back to health and wellness while living with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), which is the core of Allieds vision.

The company noted it employs an evidence-informed scientific approach through the use of cutting-edge pharmaceutical research and development, innovative plant-based production and unique development of therapeutic products, with a particular focus on the potential for cannabinoids to treat illnesses such as PTSD.

The television segments will focus on rampant PTSD diagnoses and elevated suicide rates in the veteran community, as well as Allieds stated intent to help those suffering by providing access to products infused with cannabidiol (CBD), a psychoactive, but non-intoxicating, compound derived from the cannabis plant.

The segments will be three to five minutes. The program aims to merge creativity and technology in order to foster organic and inspiring content that will be viewed and shared with millions globally.

Exact air dates have yet to be determined, but the segments are expected to be available within the first three months of 2020.
