MORRIS A death investigation was still underway in Morris on Monday evening, but Morris Police Chief Brent Dite said the public's safety is not in danger.

Morris police were called to an apartment at the 100 block of east North Street where a deceased person was found. Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation officers were called to assist in the investigation.

"No information was found at the scene for the public to have concern," Dite said.

When police have no witnesses to a death and the manner of death in undetermined, it is protocol is for state CSI team to be called to assist, he said.

Dite said he could not comment further on the investigation.

Wednesday afternoon police sat outside the building, which housed a second-story apartment where the person was found. Crime scene investigators were seen outside the building taking photographs toward the direction of the Morris Area Public Library, as well as down the street and the entry way to the building.

Chief Deputy Coroner Christina Hintze-Symoniak said no information would be released until the CSI unit completed its investigation.
