Woman in critical condition after stabbing on TRAX platform – fox13now.com

SALT LAKE CITY A woman is in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times on a Utah Transit Authority TRAX platform in Salt Lake City.

According to UTA spokesman Carl Arky, the stabbing occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the station on 900 South and 200 West.

The victim was purchasing a ticket from the kiosk when a man came up from behind her, put his arm around her and stabbed her several times. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Arky said early Friday evening that the woman's age and identity were unknown. A suspect was arrested, but his name was not released yet.

It was unclear as of Friday if the attack was random, targeted, or whether the two knew each other.

The emergency response and crime scene investigation temporarily disrupted the TRAX red and blue lines.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience, but we're mostly concerned for the safety and the well-being of the victim in this case. We hope that she's able to make a rapid recovery," Arky said.

Arky added that there are cameras at the platform that will hopefully help the investigation.
