PARIS Saturday's rainout of President Donald Trump's visit to a World War I cemetery is drawing catcalls from critics, including Winston Churchill's grandson.

"They died with their face to the foe and that pathetic inadequate Donald Trump couldnt even defy the weather to pay his respects to The Fallen," said Nicholas Soames, Churchill's grandson and a member of British Parliament.

The White House said it canceled Trump's trip to Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial near Paris "due to scheduling and logistical difficulties caused by the weather."

Critics pointed out world leaders like Emmanuel Macron of France, Angela Merkel of Germany, and Justin Trudeau of Canada managed to attend events Saturday despite the rain.

"Real low energy, @realDonaldTrump to not bother to honor the sacrifice of American soldiers in WWI due to some rain," tweetedKelly Magsamen, a National Security Council adviser for both Republican andDemocratic presidents.

"Somehow everyone else was able to do so today," she said. "Obama never had this problem. He also visited our troops in war zones."

Trump, who is town for a Sunday commemoration marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War, is still scheduled to visit and speak at another cemetery after that main event.

Late Saturday, Trump said he had "very productive meetings and calls for our Country" during the day, but he didn't specify what they were.
