Information on Free Tax Prep Sites

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- We see ads and commercials for tax preparation software all over the place, but millions of Americans qualify for free tax preparation assistance and they might not know it.

The government and a few different foundations offer free tax prep services for Americans.

We have sites here in Missouri and Arkansas that are open already if you're ready to complete your 2014 taxes.

VITA stands for the IRS' "Volunteer Income Tax Assistance" program.

The tax preparation service is open to the public and is designed to benefit low-income and senior taxpayers.

To qualify you just have to make less than 60,000 dollars a year for your household.
