George Zimmerman is officially single.

Following the conclusion of his 2013 murder trial for killing Trayvon Martin, Zimmermans wife Shellie filed for divorce and after 2 1/2 years later its finalized, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

"I'm honestly thinking I'm happy," he said. "The divorce is concluded, and I can start a new chapter in my life."

The proceedings started when his now ex-wife filed divorce papers on Sept. 5, 2013.

The following week, police were called to the Zimmerman home when Shellie said her husband threatened her with a gun and clocked her dad in the face.

After that, George Zimmerman counter-sued for divorce.

The legal wranglings stretched out for more than two years, in part because the feuding spouses bickered over how to split the millions they hoped to get from a defamation suit against NBC Universal.

Zimmerman launched a lawsuit after the news network reported that he volunteered that Trayvon was black during a 911 call the night he shot the unarmed 17-year-old.

Ultimately, a judge tossed out the defamation suit in 2014, the year after Zimmerman was acquitted of murder.

In the course of the divorce proceedings, Zimmerman moved out and then in January 2015 he was arrested for aggravated assault of a girlfriend after he allegedly threw a wine bottle at her.

Later, the woman recanted and the prosector declined to press charges.

On Tuesday, a Seminole County judge signed the order that finalized the notorious Floridians divorce.

According to the terms of agreement, Zimmerman was supposed to give $166,000 of the anticipated settlement money to Shellie and use another $2.5 million to pay the tab owed to defense attorney Mark OMara.

In the end there was no settlement, so there werent many assets to split but, after nine years of marriage, Zimmerman gets to keep the pickup truck and the dog.

Zimmerman, 32, is responsible for his debts, while his 28-year-old ex will be resonsible for hers.

"The Zimmerman affair has indeed ended in the proverbial whimper, not a bang," Shellies attorney told the Orlando paper in an email.
