ORLANDO, Fla. - George Zimmerman denies throwing a wine bottle at his ex-girlfriend in his latest run-in with authorities since being acquitted of murdering Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teen, in 2013.

Zimmerman says in a police report released Monday that in the confrontation with his ex-girlfriend, he didn't throw a bottle at her nor destroy her cellphone as she claimed. Instead, he says, he was only trying to prevent her from entering his home.

Zimmerman was arrested Friday evening in Lake Mary, Fla. and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police officers say they heard the sound of glass breaking at the home while on patrol and saw broken glass in the driveway.

According to CBS affiliate WKMG, police officers say they saw a woman get in her car and drive away from the home without her headlights on, which caused them to pull her over.

The woman told officers she had been dating Zimmerman for about two-to-three months, and claimed that Zimmerman threw a wine bottle at her and threw her cell phone, shattering it, as a result of an argument they were having, according to the police report.

Officers indicated in the report that the woman was very emotional.

Police said minutes after the incident, they found a broken wine bottle in the driveway, but Zimmerman was no longer there.

When he was finally located later that evening, he denied the fight but was arrested anyways. He appeared in court Saturday, where a judge set his bond at $5,000, which he later posted. He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and to stay out of Volusia County and turn over any firearms in his possession, according to WKMG.
