Roseanne Barr: George Zimmerman parents' lawsuit not valid

ORLANDO, Fla. -

Actress Roseanne Barr acknowledges making a Twitter post listing the address and telephone number of George Zimmerman's parents, but is asking a judge to throw out their lawsuit against her in part because the information was readily available in public records.

Barr's attorneys said in a motion to dismiss the suit this week that Barr only "retweeted" another post in March 2012, and almost immediately removed it.

Robert and Gladys Zimmerman filed the lawsuit last month.

Barr's attorneys say the Zimmermans' invasion of privacy claim is barred by the First Amendment, which protects statements made about public figures on matters of public concern.

The Zimmermans say they had to flee their home after Barr posted the information about a month after their son, George, fatally shot Trayvon Martin in 2012.

George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder and manslaughter in July 2013.
