Hillary Clinton to join Shaheen fundraiser

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will headline a fundraiser for U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) later this week in New York City, a Democratic Party source confirmed.

Clinton was to have starred at a fundraiser Sept. 30 in Washington, D.C., for state Sen. Lou D'Allesandro, D-Manchester, but the birth of her first grandchild postponed that event.

Clinton won the 2008 New Hampshire Democratic Presidential Primary. She and President Clinton remain close friends with Shaheen.

The likely 2016 presidential hopeful has yet to return to New Hampshire, home to the first-in-the-nation primary, but polls indicate her base of support remains strong.

A CNN/ORC poll two weeks ago had Clinton with 60 percent, and the next possible Democratic presidential candidate in that survey was Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) at 11 percent and Vice President Joe Biden at 8 percent.
