Hillary Clinton’s toxic coronavirus commentary uses dead Americans as a political weapon – Washington Examiner

Imagine still being so bitter over the 2016 election that you use the tragic, lost lives of Americans to attack the man who beat you. Imagine being Hillary Clinton.

The former Democratic presidential nominee took to Twitter to attack President Trump over the fact that the United States now has the worlds highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases. (Note: This raw number is kind of a useless statistic we are not the highest when you look at cases relative to population size.) Over 2,000 U.S. citizens have died from the virus, but Clinton decided to make light of that fact to dunk on Trump.

He did promise America First, Clinton wrote in a glib tweet commenting on the skyrocketing number of cases of the potentially lethal virus.

Thats right, Clinton took what ought to be an apolitical national crisis and exploited it, in a manner tone-deaf to all the dead innocents whove lost their lives, to attack Trump. This even though, if you want to blame the virus on anyone, its the Communist Chinese regime that lied and covered it up, preventing the global community from keeping it contained and allowing it to become a full-blown pandemic.

Plus, theres a strong implication in Clintons tweet that if shed been put in charge, this wouldnt have happened. But theres little to suggest thats true at all. Remember, Clinton as secretary of state oversaw an absolute disaster in the aftermath of the attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, helped launch a failed U.S. military intervention that turned Libya into a failed state, and carelessly handled classified information on her emails servers.

Clinton hasnt exactly proven herself a steady leader amid crisis. If anything, the opposite.

None of this is to say that President Trump's handling of the coronavirus crisis is off-limits to criticism. It's not, and I've criticized it myself in these pages. Some of Clinton's other tweets made valid criticisms of Trump's response in a reasonable enough manner. But her original tweet making light of the tragedy in a snide dunk is an absolutely classless way to go about this.

As Dana Loesch put it:

Sadly, though, this coronavirus commentary is pretty much par for the course from Clinton. Just like in 2016, when she derided voters who didnt support her as deplorable, the career politician has always shown an immense disgust for those who dare not worship her.

But guess what? Clinton lost, and even if shes not over it, most of the country is.

The failed candidate can keep using her social media platform to snipe at Trump and sneer at America, but ultimately, she is woefully, completely, and totally politically irrelevant. And no number of glib tweets will ever erase the bitterness Clinton is clearly consumed with as a result.
