CHRISTMAS came early for newsreader Tony Jones after glamorous weather presenter Rebecca Judd finally accepted his on-air BBQ invite, after initially giving it a firm "no, thanks".

Tony graciously farewelled the WAG turned Channel 9 TV presenter- who begins maternity leave- at the end of tonight's 6pm bulletin.

"This is very sad Bec, although very exciting for yourself and Chris, of course you've got the new bub coming. You've grown before our eyes," he said.

The mischievous presenter then asked if he was going to invite her back for a BBQ, in a lighthearted reference to last night's smackdown.

Tony Jones presented colleague Rebecca Judd with flowers on-air and asked again if she'd like to come over for a BBQ.

"Well I did get spurned once, but I'll give it another go ... Do you want to come round for a barbie?" he asked.

"I'd love to," Judd replied.

But just 24 hour earlier, the style maven didn't seem in the mood for banter or BBQs.

A glowing Rebecca Judd this time accepted Tony's invite.
