WAITER James Gardiner has gone from serving up dinners to signing a record deal.

The 20-year-old, from Barlaston, had all his dreams come true when he penned a contract with Freaktone Records.

The record label, which specialises in club and dance music, has offered him a one-song contract.

Now the single, Time2Go, is set for release in late October and James hopes it will climb the charts in time for his 21st birthday on October 31.

He said: "It would be great if it could get to number one.

"It would be the perfect present.

"This one-song deal is a test to see if I have got what it takes.

"It's a fantastic opportunity. Hopefully, this is just the start."

The single has already been getting rave reviews on the Spanish island of Ibiza, which is known for its dance scene.
