Illegal immigrant charged with trying to get NH driver’s license | New … – The Union Leader

NASHUA State Police said Friday an illegal immigrant claimed to be a resident and tried to obtain a New Hampshire drivers license in Nashua.

Shtain Gbalanga, 21, claimed Barrington as his legal residence when he went to the Division of Motor Vehicles substation in Nashua to get a license Friday.

An investigation by State Police with the assistance of federal officials revealed that Gbalanga was using fraudulent documents, and in fact was a French citizen in this country illegally.

Gbalanga was arrested without incident and brought to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections where he was being held on $5,000 cash bail.

He will be arraigned Monday in the 9th Circuit Court District Division in Nashua on misdemeanor charges of tampering with public records and unsworn falsification.

State Police officials said the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement along with the state Division of Motor Vehicles assisted in this investigation.

Anyone with further information about this matter is urged to contact Trooper First Class Richard H. Dupont Jr. at (603) 223-8969.
