City welcomes new Main Street director

Stefek

Brianne Stefek has two goals for downtown Kissimmee: keep city events going strong and bring in new ones to support the small businesses on Broadway.

As the new executive director of Kissimmee Main Street, this position gives her the chance to do more of what she loves. Already working Kissimmee Main Street for a year as a volunteer, she helped organize some of the citys biggest annual events, such as the Trick or Treat, annual 5K in February and the Kowtown Festival.

My favorite part of the events is actually the event itself, and being able to get out there and talk to people. Watch them enjoy themselves and knowing that what were doing is having such a great impact, positively, with the community. For the businesses and also for the residents that are here too, said Stefek.

Stefek was raised in Kissimmee, graduating from Osceola High School in 2002 and then from the University of Central Florida. Growing up, she has always volunteered and planned for different organizations, from local gymnastics meets as a kid to different community and philanthropic organizations in high school and college.

She sees Kissimmee as a much different place than when she was growing up, with downtown being less about business and more about community events. While enjoying the numerous events the city now has to offer, Stefek works to bring a balance of business and pleasure.

Just to get an idea of what theyre looking for, and their vision of downtown Kissimmee going forward, said Stefek about working with local businesses. That is part of our motto. Were preserving the past, but were also looking towards the future. So, I personally want to get a feel of what theyre looking for and what we can do to assist them meet those goals and visions as well.
