Gentlemen (and ladies): Start your broomsticks.

The high-flying fantasy game that help launch the career of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and writer J.K. Rowling gets real this weekend as Kissimmee hosts Quidditch World Cup VI.

More than 2,000 athletes and some 20,000 spectators are expected throughout the weekend at Austin-Tindell Regional Park.

This is the first time the sport, which is popular on the college level in the Northeast and elsewhere in the U.S., will hold its world cup event outside of the region.

Teams from Canada, Mexico and France, as well as the United States have qualified for the competition.

Florida is well represented at the world cup with teams from the University of Florida, Florida State, Brevard Community College, University of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic and Ringling College, all competing.

The world cup should be a feast for the eyes, and a big change from the usual soccer matches played at the eight fields at the regional park in Osceola County.
