A Kissimmee man was taken into custody by Osceola County Sherriffs deputies early this morning following a standoff that forced the brief evacuation of a West U.S. Highway 192 hotel.

Brian Campbell, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking resulting from a domestic incident after being talked out of his room at the Amber Inn and Suites around 7 a.m. this morning.

Campbell was released from jail on a domestic stalking incident on May 11. Since his release date, Campbell repeatedly called the victim in that case, leaving messages demanding money and threatening to kill her. Police received a report from the victim around 1:30 this morning about these threats, and attempted to contact him at his room at the inn.

When he refused to respond, deputies called in negotiators and the SWAT team and evacuated the rest of the hotel guests as a precaution. Campbell eventually came out of his room willingly and was taken to Osceola County Jail without incident, where he is still held on no bond.

Campbell has a history of domestic violence in Osceola County, having served over a year in jail for a battery count in 2007. He was arrested for aggravated stalking in 2008 and 2011 and also for resistance arrest without violence in April of this year.
