JOEL CO scored a game-high 18 points to help defending champion Goldberry Iloilo Hotel eliminate the Insular Square Titans, 66-54, in the do-or-die Game 3 of the best of three semifinal series of The Avenir Shaabaa Basketball Tournament 2014 in the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu gym.

The former pro player from the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars made his presence felt just as the young Titans were poised to take the game by storm.

Goldberry also played a tough defense and they allowed no Insular Square player to score more than eight points. Justin Huang added 10 to help the defending champions win the series, 2-1.

Today, Goldberry will try to draw first blood as they play the Cebu Landmasters in the best-of-3 championship series in Division A, while Chick@Phil 89 faces RDAK Transporter in Game 1 of the best-of-3 finals series in Division B in the SHS-AdC Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman.

The Cebu Landmasters swept Gaisano Capital in their semifinal series, while Chick@Phil scored an upset victory by also sweeping Division B top seed Belo Men 89.

Belo Men will play Echo Appliance in a knockout game for third place in Division B, while Insular Square takes on Gaisano Capital also in a knockout game for third place in Division A.
