Pakistan, Ireland set for crunch clash

Ireland and Pakistan will battle for a World Cup quarter-final berth, with both sides turning a blind eye to their 2007 meeting.

The winner of Sunday's clash at Adelaide Oval, the final pool fixture of the tournament, will finish third in Pool B.

A knockout game against Australia will follow in Adelaide on Friday.

The loser could be sent packing.

The stakes were similarly high in 2007, when Ireland shocked Pakistan on St Patrick's Day to sail into the Super Eights.

Then it was a boilover, now it would be a mere upset given how well the Irishmen have performed over the past month.

"Ireland is a dangerous team," Pakistan captain Misbah-ul Haq said.

"Now it is 2015, so we are not looking back to that (2007).

"We are focusing on tomorrow's game ... and that is a must-win game."

Counterpart William Porterfield agreed.
