Iowa Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate dies in plane crash

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) Authorities say a Dubuque doctor was killed in a single-engine plane crash near the Dubuque airport.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says Dr. Douglas Butzier, who was the Libertarian candidate for Iowas U.S. Senate seat, was the pilot of the plane that crashed around 11 p.m. Monday as it approached Dubuque Regional Airport. Butzierwas the sole occupant of the aircraft.
