Where is Mike Pence?

The vice president is keeping a low profile as his boss fights for their jobs by appealing the election results that project a big Electoral College win for the Biden-Harris Democratic ticket.

Pence, the former governor of Indiana, is said to be on the short list of 2024 Republican presidential candidates, if President Trump remains on the sidelines.

Pence hopes to emerge from Trumps shadow and get all the loyal Trump voters to support him, said GOP consultant Rob Gray, but that will probably take an endorsement from Trump.

That, Gray told the Herald, is very unlikely.

For now, Pence is expected to start a short vacation in Florida. The 61-year-old is headed to Sanibel on Tuesday and will stay through Saturday, the Associated Press is reporting. Tropical Storm Eta is soaking the region.

MassGOP head Jim Lyons said he isnt reading into Pence keeping a low profile.

Pence is being Pence, Lyons said of the unassuming VP. Hes letting the process play out. Whats wrong with following the process? Isnt that what we all want?

Lyons said it was too soon for him to be projecting a Republican comeback in four years, but he did say the predicted blue wave of Democratic support nationwide never materialized. In fact, he believes theres still a chance to challenge votes and possibly eek back a victory.

Democratic political consultant Scott Ferson disagreed, saying the Trump administration is sunk and Pence knows it.

You never hear of the second officer on the Titanic because he must have gotten into a lifeboat, Ferson told the Herald. But Pence is definitely a front-runner for 2024. Hes never lost his game face, but he must be seeing hell be a free man soon.

As head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, Pence and Trump did hail Mondays news of Pfizer reporting early success with a COVID-19 vaccine. Trump called it such great news and said the timing stunk, coming almost a week after the election.

Pence backed him up tweeting: Under President Trump we are working at Warp Speed to deliver a Safe & Effective vaccine. This President is DELIVERING for the American People.

Pence has also pinned a tweet to the top of his Twitter feed calling for every legal vote to be counted.
