Article reinforced progressives’ hypocrisy – The Durango Herald

First off, thanks to the Herald for this enlightening story on progressives in Durango (April 27).

I will bet money that most, if not all, of those quoted in the story were absolutely livid when Rush Limbaugh made national headlines in 2009 saying that he hoped President Obamas policies failed. Yet, isnt the resist Trump movement saying the same thing?

According to the story, local progressives continue to pursue identity politics and take the we know whats good for you, even if you dont attitude.

A good example is the La Plata Electric Association District 4 commissioners seat covering the east part of the county, including Vallecito, Bayfield and Ignacio. In the past five election cycles, the progressive candidate has failed to carry the precinct, let alone the district. These candidates depend on progressives in town to win elections, even though their district has rejected them.

Even after reading the story a third time, I saw no condemnation of violence perpetrated in the name of the resist movement, nor did anyone talk about the shutdown of free speech on campus, especially speakers that dont drink the progressive Kool-Aid. Perhaps that had as much to do with the softball questions tossed out by the Herald reporter.

Someday, somehow, progressives will wake up and admit that they supported a flawed candidate in Hillary Clinton, and failed to address the fact that there are people living beyond the West Coast and the upper Eastern Seaboard.

Remember, even though Hillary had a 2-to-1 money advantage, 90 percent-plus funding from unions and endorsements from almost every major news outlet, she never connected with the people.

Reread the Herald story and see if you can find where progressives are reaching out today. I see that they want to work with other like groups and inform (key word here) the people why the progressive agenda is the only right way. The hypocrisy of the progressives is legend.

As that great philosopher Rodney King said, Cant we all just get along?

Editors note: In the recent LPEA election, Guinn Unger defeated incumbent Joe Wheeling in District 4.
