Buhari to declare bid for APC ticket Wednesday

Fomer Head of State, Maj-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (retd.)

THE campaign group for ex-Head of State, Maj.-Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has said that no fewer than five million supporters would converge on Abuja on Wednesday to witness Buharis declaration of bid for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress.

The National Secretary of the Buhari Support Group Centre, Ibrahim Dauda, said this at a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday.

He said that arrangements were in top gear to receive the Buharis supporters in the nations capital to witness the declaration of his bid for the APC ticket.

Buhari, who was the presidential candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 elections, is one of the national leaders of the APC, which came into being from the merger of the CPC with other opposition parties.

The others in the merger were the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, All Nigeria Progressives Party and a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Dauda said Buhari would be responding to the clarion call by well-meaning Nigerians to rescue the nation from the catastrophe imposed on it by the failure of leadership.

He said, The occasion is to mark General Buharis official declaration of intent to contest for the Presidency in 2015. It is slated for Wednesday, October 15 2014 at the famous Eagle Square Abuja.

As the frontline political organisation that has been inaugurated and mandated by Buhari himself to be responsible for harmonising and coordinating all the political support groups, among other salient functions, we can say affirmatively that the formal declaration of General Buhari this week will witness the unprecedented attendance of not less than five million passionate supporters of the General.

He said indiscipline, corruption, impunity and incompetent leadership were threatening the countrys existence.
