Fuel price reduction, political gimmick APC chief

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Olukoga, has described the reduction in the price of petrol from N97 to N87 by President Goodluck Jonathan as a political gimmick.

He said the reduction was not commensurate with the fall in the global price of crude oil.

Olukoga, who is also the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Education, spoke on Thursday when students of some tertiary institutions in the South-West visited him in his Alausa, Ikeja office.

According to him, the reduction in the fuel price was belated because it came a few weeks to the next general elections.

He urged Nigerians to be wary of what he called deceitful tactics employed by the Peoples Democratic Party-led government to woo them for support.

Olukoga said, The reduction is not proportional to the drop in the prices of crude in the international market. In fact, if Jonathans administration is serious at all, it ought to have brought the fuel price down to N67 per litre.

From the foregoing, I want to advise voters to be wary of any deceitful carrot Jonathan is dangling before them.

What Nigeria needs now is a change from bad to good, from darkness to light and to achieve this, I appeal to Nigerians to endeavour to tell the President with their votes that they are not fools; they should tell him that they are not ready to be deceived anymore.

The students coordinator, Mr. Opeyemi Eniola, said they had decided to mobilise support for the APC governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Akin Ambode, and the partys presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), because of their competency.

Eniola said, We have no doubt in the ability of the two personalities going by their previous excellent performances while in government in the past.
