The use of the phrase from the river to the sea has come under particular scrutiny in the last three months. From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate, Tlaib wrote in an effort to clarify her language as the bad-faith critics amassed against her.
