Republicans pick Cheektowaga councilwoman to run for Gabryszaks former seat

Cheektowaga area Republicans have chosen Councilwoman Angela Wozniak to run this fall for the vacant 143rd Assembly seat.

Wozniak, also a small business owner, will compete for the seat previously held by Democrat Dennis H. Gabryszak. He resigned in January after several female staffers accused him of sexual harassment.

Just in the last three months, three Assembly members have been kicked out of the Assembly after being convicted of felonies or ethical violations, she said in announcing her candidacy. If we want to really change Albany, we need to start electing people who arent afraid to stand up to the status quo. Thats my record as a town councilwoman and thats what Ill bring to Albany.

Democrats have not yet settled on a candidate, though several are exploring a run. Democrats outnumber Republicans in the district approximately 2 to 1.
