Man United Injury News: Rashford In Training Ahead Of Toon Trip – Sports Lens

Marcus Rashford has returned to Manchester United training ahead of Sundays clash against Newcastle despite pulling out of the England squad last week with injury.

The 25-year-old participated in a small session away from the main group on Monday. There was no ball work involved for Rashford, but he is expected to ramp up his recovery this week ahead of a return this weekend.

According to Premier League betting sites, Rashford is 14/1 to win the PFA Player of the Year award behind Erling Haaland (1/3), Martin Odegaard (6/1) and Bukayo Saka (6/1).

In 44 appearances so far this season, Uniteds number ten has tallied 27 goals and nine assists. Undoubtedly enjoying the finest season of his career so far, Rashford is fulfilling the sky-high potential that many held for him since breaking onto the scene in 2016.

Rashford was substituted seven minutes from time in Uniteds FA Cup quarter-final win against Fulham at Old Trafford, leading to his withdrawal from Gareth Southgates England squad for the first set of Euro 2024 qualifying games.

The Three Lions won both clashes against Italy and Ukraine, but a media storm regarding Rashfords absence took centre stage early last week. In a press conference, Southgate told the media Marcus is in good form and wed love to have had him as an option for this camp but we havent got him.

Regarding the wingers recent trip to New York for a short holiday, Southgate defended Rashford and reassured the media that England are up to date with clubs regarding player fitness.

Once Marcus is ruled out of the squad, its entirely up to him how he spends his time. The players dont get a lot of breaks and Im sure some of them will be flying off after tomorrows game if they get 48 hours off with the schedule as it is. We are always linking with clubs on scans and assessments.
