A New York-based food blogger is in trouble for cheating in a half marathon, and what's remarkable is how she was caught by someone who spotted the distance on her GPS watch.

Jane Seo, a 24-year-old blogger and self-proclaimed marathon lover confessed to cheating to win her second place finish at the Fort Lauderale A1A Half Marathon by using a short cut and a bike.

Race analyst Derek Murphy spotted a photo of Seo's GPS watch, and noticed that she cut about a mile and a half from her Sunday race. After the run, Seo logged data into a mobile app for runners, and then later covered her tracks by biking the distance.

Seo admitted to her cheating on an Instagram post, which has since been removed.

"I made a HORRIBLE choice at the Ft. Lauderdale Half Marathon on Sunday, February 20. I wasn't feeling well so I CUT THE COURSE and headed to the finish line," she wrote.

She then admitted to cheating.

Race officials have posted their response on Facebook:

However, Murphy said that Seo only admitted to cheating when the evidence was made public.

"She had the opportunity to come clean after crossing the finish line. Instead, she doubled down with the deceit. She approached race officials and other runners defending her time," he said.

He continued: "They did not approach her. She proactively went to them. She did attend the awards ceremony to collect her 2nd place award."
