Social network lets strangers control sex toys

TAIPEI, Taiwan, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- A Taiwan-based social network currently in the beta-testing phase allows users to control each other's sex toys through the website.

The LovePalz Club social network allows users to set up profiles, browse others based on their posted pictures, chat with other users, video conference and control each other's sex toys from afar.

LovePalz began in 2012 as a site using teledildonics -- controlling sex toys over large distances using computers -- to allow couples to vary the vibration speed of their Zeus and Hera sex toys over the Internet. Spokeswoman Viv Lu told the Beta Beat blog the social networking function was inspired by suggestions from site users.

"This is a brand new idea and the evolution of social networking," Lu said.

"[Users] could have social activities, chatting, video conferencing on our club," Lu said. "But we don't stop here... we bring the interaction one step further to help them have the physical touch with our Twist device."

The Twist, available for $79 for the female version and $89 for the male version, connects with the website and allows the user's chatting partner to control the speed and frequency of vibrations.

Lu said use of the interactive sex toy is optional for site users, but "we strongly recommend users should try the marvelous interaction with Twist device at least once."

The LovePalz Club site will end beta testing and become open to the public Oct. 12, Lu said.
