(RTTNews.com) - Use of Facebook among teens is falling notably for the first time, according a survey conducted by Magid Social Media.

According to the survey, a large number of teens between 13 and 17 years ditched the social networking site Facebook and Twitter, as other platforms like Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat gained users. The survey reports teens using Facebook dropped to 88 percent from 94 percent last year, as teens are reportedly unwilling to post their views and pics on the social networking site fearing their parents and relatives.

However, Facebook's loss has been a gain for other social networking sites like instant messaging site Snapchat and photo sharing network Instagram, which gained 50 and 25 percent, respectively.

The Magid Social Media Study conducted the online quantitative study with 1,934 social media users between 13 and 64 years in the US. The study was fielded in November 2014.

FB is currently trading at $74.38, down $0.61 or 0.81%, on the NYSE.
