Long to speak at tea party Tuesday

The La Salle County tea party will host Jim Long as this month's guest speaker at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pitstick Pavilion, 3401 N. Route 23, Ottawa.

Long is the Illinois Policy Institutes manager of government affairs, focusing on government relations and the legislative process in the Illinois General Assembly.

Long most recently was the executive director of a candidate resource center, where he was involved in more than 70 campaigns since 2009. Prior to that, he was a longtime golf professional/director of golf at two prominent Chicago area courses.

Long graduated magna cum laude from Benedictine University with a Bachelor of Arts in management. He and his wife Kathleen live in the Western suburbs of Chicago with their five children. He is a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a precinct committeeman, youth coach and an involved activist in his home community.
