Missing people: Please join the Everything Stops for Tea campaign, Mancunians are urged

CHARITY leaders are urging Mancunians to rally behind a fundraiser to support the families of missing people.

The Manchester Evening News has joined forces with charity Missing People to launch nationwide event on Friday, called Everything Stops for Tea.

Josie Allan, regional manager at Missing People, said the disappearance of a loved-one can have a devastating effect on families.

She said: This Friday's event is about taking a moment to think about the people who have gone missing and their families.

By joining in, you are helping continue the search for those people who have gone missing and support those left behind.

It's unimaginable what it must be like for those families who still don't know what happened to their loved one.

I've come across families who stay lay a setting at the table or still put a present under the Christmas tree in the hope that one that person will walk through the door.

Some families just want closure or confirmation of what happened. Not knowing is almost unbearable.

By hosting a tea party and taking a moment to think about these families, you will be helping raise awareness of missing people.

The MEN wants you to hold a special tea party for family, friends and colleagues on or around Friday, March 20 to support those who are missing - and those who are missing someone they love.
