Presidential hopefuls at Tea Party Convention in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WIS) - Brace yourselves. The presidential hopefuls are coming. Senator Ted Cruz and Dr. Ben Carson spoke Sunday at the Tea Party Convention in Myrtle Beach.

The golden goose of American politics is the young vote. It's tough to get and Republicans have struggled to get young voters at the polls to vote for their candidates.

The Tea Party in South Carolina did well with the youth in 2012.

Dr. Ben Carson supporters have put it this way- if you like Uber, vote for Carson. If you like cabs, vote for the other candidate.

Attracting young voters? There's an app for that.

"Public service commission pulled the plug on Uber," Carson said. "All young people know what Uber is, and that it gives cheaper rides, safer rides."

Carson's team has been at the Tea Party Convention in Myrtle Beach since day one. He addressed the convention crowd Sunday afternoon.

I am not politically correct, nor do I intend to become politically correct, he said.

Carson, a Tea Party favorite, isn't officially running for president -- yet. But his team will tell you why he should be.

"You have to broaden the base of the GOP, and stay true to conservative principles at the same time," Carson's campaign director Vernon Robinson. "Only Dr. Carson can do both."
