The Ritter Public Library, 5680 Liberty Ave., is prepared to serve up some royal treatment as it hosts a royal Tea Party event May 6 in conjunction with the coronation of King Charles III of England.

The tea is organized by Friends of the Ritter Public Library.

From interactions I have had with members of the Friends, everyone is very excited for this event, said Chloe Browne, community engagement librarian at Ritter. A ton of thought has gone in to make this event worth it for our guests.

What to know about King Charles IIIs coronation

The cost to attend is $30 a person and guarantees that guests have access to a selection of formal teas and light tea refreshments, Browne said.

"The tea was a great idea because it not only is a fundraiser for Friends but also provides guests with a chance to dress up and get fancy as well," she said. "We are encouraging guests to come dressed up and to just take the time to get fancy."

The event is geared toward adults, but all are welcome to attend.

Doors will open at 1 p.m. and will continue until the coronation concludes.

Due to the time difference, the coronation will not be viewed live.

"Our Friends have always been great supporters for the library," Browne said. "They make it possible for the various events that we hold as well as are responsible for the ongoing book sales."

Registration and payment is required for the event and can be done on the library's website.

As of early On May 4, six seats were available.
