Tiemoue Bakayoko’s club changed to Chelsea on his Wikipedia page ahead of 36.7m transfer – Express.co.uk

Bakayoko is expected to seal a 36.7million switch from Monaco to Chelsea within the next 48 hours.

Express Sport understands Bakayoko will fly into London in the next few days to undergo a medical and sign a five-year deal.

But someone jumped the gun on Wikipedia by changing the 22-year-olds current team to Chelsea.

His introduction was also amended to read Tiemoue Bakayoko (born 17 August 1994) is a French professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Chelsea FC.

However, the prank was short lived as his page was edited back to state him as a Monaco player this morning.

How could Chelsea line up at the start of the 2017/18 season?

Bakayoko looks set to become a Chelsea player as early as this week, although reports in France claim the deal has hit a setback.

France Football say while the transfer is on track the deal could take longer than expected because the player and club have not agreed on wage terms.

The exact terms being discussed are not known but the midfielder could expect a healthy packet given his recent success.

Bakayoko was a key part of the Monaco team that beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title last season and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

He made 46 appearances for Leonardo Jardims side, earning himself full senior honours for France in March.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has identified Bakayoko as his top midfield target this summer and is poised to replace Nemanja Matic at Stamford Bridge.

Matic is on the verge of completing a 40m move to be reunited with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

And Conte wants Bakayoko to sit in midfield next to NGolo Kante and hold the fort for Chelseas dangerous forwards.
